One of the most common things we hear from buyers touring Ocean Hills Country Club goes something like this:
“We definitely want a detached home.”
And honestly? We completely understand why.
Most people hear the words attached home and immediately picture shared walls, hearing the TV next door, little privacy, and homes packed tightly together.
But here’s the interesting thing:
That’s not really what attached homes in Ocean Hills Country Club feel like.
In fact, many buyers are genuinely surprised once they actually tour them.
Including us.
We live in an attached home ourselves, and before moving here, we had many of the same assumptions other buyers have. We thought detached would automatically feel quieter and more private.
But after viewing so many homes throughout the community, we’ve realized something kind of funny:
Our attached home actually feels more private than many of the detached homes we’ve visited.
That’s because most attached homes here do not share a main interior living wall the way people imagine. The walls are separate – just very close together. So, when you’re nailing a hole in your wall – you’re not banging into a shared wall.
And because of the way many neighborhoods here are designed — with greenbelts, setbacks, mature landscaping, courtyards, patios, and winding streets — the homes often feel surprisingly peaceful and separated.
We’ve honestly never heard anyone living in an attached home here complain about hearing their neighbors through the walls.
Ever.
That’s usually the biggest surprise for buyers.
The second surprise is often how much easier attached living can make day-to-day life.
For many residents, this stage of life becomes less about having the biggest house possible and more about having a home that feels comfortable, manageable, and easy to enjoy.
Attached homes often offer:
- less exterior maintenance
- smaller yards to maintain
- lock-and-leave convenience for travel
- beautiful layouts with plenty of natural light
- lower price points in some cases
- more efficiency when it comes to heating & cooling
- and a very cozy, connected feel without sacrificing privacy
That doesn’t mean detached homes aren’t wonderful too.
They absolutely are.
Detached homes can offer larger lots, more separation, expanded outdoor areas, and different floorplan options that work beautifully for many lifestyles.
But what we’ve seen over and over again is this:
Buyers sometimes rule out attached homes before ever stepping inside one.
And once they do tour them, many end up saying: “Ohhh… this is completely different than what I pictured.”
That’s why we always encourage buyers not to make the attached vs. detached decision too early.
The better question is usually:
How do you actually want to live?
Do you want more outdoor space?
Less maintenance?
A lock-and-leave lifestyle?
A larger footprint?
More natural light?
Closer proximity to certain amenities?
A certain architectural style?
Because in Ocean Hills Country Club, attached vs. detached is often far less important than people initially think.
And sometimes the homes buyers least expect to love end up feeling the most like home.
