One of the stand-out qualities of Ocean Hills Country Club is the active lifestyle and very friendly community. There are 40+ social clubs from golf to pickleball to music to art … there’s something for everyone.

And, that’s just the formal clubs. There are also countless interest groups like the Plant-based Potluckers.

You quickly learn about the clubs once you move in – whether from someone you meet or through the HOA website or the community magazine or at the clubhouse. But, what you won’t see in any of those places is that residents are constantly coordinating all kinds of fun events on their own as well. Whether it’s just informal meetups to listen to music or more structured friendly competitions…there are all kinds of fun and games going on any given day.

This month, we participated in several of those types of events. One of them was called the “Senior Olympics”. About 30 residents gathered at the Clubhouse and were split into smaller groups who cycled through a round of challenges: putting, chipping, bocce, corn hole and pickleball. It was a hoot!

Each challenge had an ‘official’ on-site to explain the rules and track points. We took a break half way through to eat lunch near the pool and then gathered again at the end for the ‘closing ceremonies’ where prizes were given in each category as well as an overall – bronze, silver and gold winner.

In OHCC, it’s easy to take an idea and turn it into an event. And, there are always people ready to join in the fun. That’s part of what makes this community such an enjoyable place to live. Good people. Good sports. Good weather. Good resources. Good fun.
