Always so much fun to spend a day sailing with members of the OHCC Sailing Club. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve sailed before or have always wanted to give it a try – THIS is the place to make your dreams come true!
TK & I have very little sailing experience at all, but we do love being on the water. That’s why we LOVE the OHCC Sailing Club. This year, the club will put over 100 boats on the water.
Our most recent sail had several VERY experienced captains – which made for an AMAZING day of sailing.
The club arranges the boat reservations & the crew. All you have to do is reserve your spot, pay a nominal fee depending on the boat size (currently $47-58), meet up at the overflow parking in OHCC, sign a waiver and hop in a carpool to head off for a sailing adventure.
The club currently sails out of Harbor Island or Seaforth. A captain and first mate are assigned for duties. They are well-trained in preparing everyone for a safe sail. From there, you take off and see where the winds take you.
It’s a fantastic way to make new friends, spend a day enjoying all that San Diego has to offer and fill your sunshine tank.
After 3-4 hours of sailing, we usually stop someone for an early dinner before heading home. You can’t beat it!
If you love being on the water – this is a great club to join. Besides all of the sails, they host a regatta in September that is very competitive! They also throw great parties!
The best part – if you’ve never sailed before and have always wanted to try – this is your chance! The club hosts classes and programs to teach you the basics and see if you catch the bug for sailing!
